Star-Studded Annual DesignCare Gala Raises Money for HollyRod Foundation

The 25th annual DesignCare Gala raised funds for the HollyRod Foundation, which provides resources, job training and other services to individuals affected by Parkinson’s disease or autism as well as to their families. Holly Robinson Peete and former NFL Quarterback Rodney Peete, creators of the foundation, have been affected by both, as their son RJ has autism and Matt Robinson, father of the “21 Jump Street” actress, had Parkinson’s disease.

Each year DesignCare honors people with special awards like the ‘Matthew T. Robinson Award of Courage’, ‘HollyRod Media Hero Award’, ‘HollyRod4kids Champion Award’, ‘HollyRod Media Award’, ‘HollyRod Founders Award’, and ‘Humanitarian Award. This years event honored Nicole Ari Parker and Bodi Kodjoe with special guests Kimora Lee Simmons, Tina Knowles Lawson, Raven-Symoné, Tisha Campbell, Vanessa Williams, Smokey Robinson, Tony and October Gonzalez and more celebrities attended the ceremony, held at The Beehive on Saturday July 15th in Los Angeles. The event featured the fashion designs by Sergio Hudson, D-Nice on the ones and twos with a surprise performance by Robin Thicke.

The event raised an undisclosed amount counting the auctions, additional contributions, sponsorships and tickets for the 600 guests, which started at $500 and ranged to $100,000 for packages that included 30 guests.

The DesignCare Gala was sponsored by Signa Google, Lexus, American Airlines, Crown Media, AARP and included some fabulous auction items including a contribution from Benigna Parfums a luxury perfume line that is making its way into Hollywood spaces. Benigna first appeared in the 6-figure swag presented to the 2023 Oscars nominees and winners in the top five categories. Expect to see & hear more from this brand.

You can donate to the HollyRod Foundation by visiting their website at hollyrod.org/donate. Your tax-deductible donation helps families impacted by Parkinson’s Disease and Autism. Proceeds from sales of Benigna Parfums using code DESIGNCARE2023 will also go to the Hollyrod foundation.
