For the 12th year, The Chicago Elite Classic took place on UIC’s campus at the Credit Union 1 Arena. The showcase continues its legacy of community engagement while spotlighting exceptional young basketball talent. As always, there were a handful of celebrities & coaches cycling throughout the building, but the energy as always came from the students at the respectable schools competing in the classic, bringing that school spirit.
The Classic continues its legacy of community engagement while spotlighting exceptional young basketball talent Featuring Top-ranked Kenwood and Thornton on Saturday. Thornton defeated Kenwood in a showdown of the area’s top-ranked teams at the Chicago Elite Classic with a score of 52-45.

- Riverside Brookfield defeats St. Ignatius 50-49
- DePaul defeats Lane Tech 60-49
- Pace defeats Hyde Park 63-35
- Cardinal Ritter defeats Whitney Young 65-63
- Sidwell Friends defeats Curie 56-54
- Vashon defeats Mt Carmel 58-51

- Whitney Young defeats Lyons Township 46-45
- Thornton defeats Simeon 46-40
- Bolingbrook defeats Kenwood 65-59
- Homewood-Flossmoor defeats Butler 54-43
The Chicago Elite Classic featured some of the top high school basketball players in the state of Illinois.
- Morez Johnson: Thornton’s Morez Johnson is an Illinois recruit and the top prospect in the senior class.
- Chris Riddle: Kenwood’s Chris Riddle is a senior and one of the top 10 seniors in the state.
- Jaden Smith: Kenwood’s Jaden Smith is a senior and one of the top 10 seniors in the state.
- Calvin Robins: Kenwood’s Calvin Robins is a senior and one of the top 10 seniors in the state.
- Aleks Austin: Kenwood’s Aleks Austin is a junior with high-major offers.
- Darrin Ames: Darrin Ames is a player to watch in the Class of 2023.
- Cam Christie: Cam Christie is a player to watch in the Class of 2023.
- Jeremy Fears: Jeremy Fears is a player to watch in the Class of 2023.
- Asa Thomas: Asa Thomas is a player to watch in the Class of 2023.
- Macaleab Rich: Macaleab Rich is a player to watch in the Class of 2023.

- Paige Engles: Loyola Academy’s Paige Engles is a senior guard committed to Cornell.
- Aubrey Galvan: Loyola Academy’s Aubrey Galvan is a junior guard with offers from Brown, Yale, and Murray State.
- Destiny Jackson: Whitney Young’s Destiny Jackson is a junior forward and a top-30 junior nationally. She holds offers from Illinois, Iowa, Ohio State, and Arizona State.

The Chicago Elite Classic is a high school basketball showcase in Illinois that was co-founded in 2012 by Whitney M. Young Magnet High School and Simeon Career Academy. The event showcases nationally ranked teams from throughout the country and utilizes basketball to promote and encourage a champions in life message. The next event is scheduled for December 2, 2023, at Credit Union 1 Arena at UIC.
